Literary Treasure

Love Without Love

Luis Llorens Torres

I love you, because in my thousand and one nights of dreams,
I never once dreamed of you.
I looked down paths that traveled from afar,
but it was never you I expected.
Suddenly I've felt you flying through my soul
in quick, lofty flight,
and how beautiful you seem way up there, far
from my always idiot heart!
Love me that way, flying over everything.
And, like the bird on its branch, land in my arms
only to rest,
then fly off again.
Be not like the romantic ones who,
in love, set me on fire.
When you climb up my mansion,
enter so lightly, that as you enter
the dog of my heart will not bark.

I first read his poem a couple a months ago. I opened the book and that was on the Page when i first read it. It is such a beautiful Love poem. I really like it. When I kept reading it over and over again I couldn't believe I hadn't read such a poem before that one. I was really shocked about it. When the teacher told us we had to get in groups I was like OK. But when I found out it was about poems we had to write about I wanted to write about Love with out Love or Tonight I can write a verse....
I was really excited but they had already chosen the two poems I wanted to write about. I ended up writing about Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare. It was such a beautiful poem about love. It described the love a man had for woman. It compared her to a beautiful summer day because she was that beautiful. I really love it became one of my favorite ones I really love poems because they're beautiful but the three I like from the text book are really amazing to me. Since I really like Sonnet 18 I'm going to write it down as well.

Sonnet 18

William Shakespeare

Shall i compare thee too a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair tho owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe, or eye can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Hopefully with this you can see why it is I really like this poems. Hopefully you can enjoy theme too like I did.

Personal Narrative With Song Lyrics

When we left my dad I was hurt. I couldn't the fact he wasn't part of my life anymore but I still didn't care. I acted like life was worthless. I never came to think that someday I would get over. That I would come realize that we did it because we had not because we wanted too. My mom never got the fact that I was daddy's little girl. I would do stupid stuff because I would believe it was the right thing to do. I was just around 11 or 12 years old when we left. We tried to start a new life but we couldn't because I was the problem I didn't know how to handle my emotions at that certain point. I would think of running away and never coming back I would consider killing myself if I didn't see him one more time I really thought I missed but I was all wrong what I missed was the fact that he was 5there but he wasn't when I wanted a hug he wouldn't care he would just leave me and go scream at my mom that I wanted attention. That's when I realized I didn't miss him I just miss the feeling that I always dreamt on having. I really thought I missed him but I was wrong I missed having the feeling of hope he would care some day but that was just a waste. I choose two songs both songs always make me cry. One of them is Daddy' Lil' girl by Frankie J and the other is Hurt by Christina Aguilera I choose both songs because that's how I felt during that period of time I didn't just feel sad and depressed but I actually felt hurt and that I was never going to be Daddy's little girl.

Hurt

"Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today

I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I want to call you but I know you won't be there

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you
Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just want to hide 'cause it's you I miss
You know it's so hard to say goodbye when it comes to this"

Daddy' Lil' Girl

"He drops his suitcase by the door
She knows her daddy won't be back anymore
She drags her feet across the floor
Tryna hold back time to keep him holding on
And she says

Daddy Daddy don't leave
I'll do anything to keep you
Right here with me
Can't you see how much I need you

Daddy Daddy don't leave
Mommy's saying things she don't mean
She don't know what she's talking about
Somebody hear me out

Father listen
Tell him that he's got a home and he don't have to go
Father save him
I would do anything in return
I'll clean my room
Try hard in school
I'll be good
I promise you
Father, Father
I pray to you"

I when i wrote this I never thought was actually going to finish it. I though I would just write then erase all my work like I usually do. I can't believe I actually am going through with this. Most people wont understand this Personal Narrative but i hope at least they can try.

Vocabulary Narrative

Sonnet

An interesting word I found was sonnet. The word sonnet means prosody. A poem properly expressive of a single, complete thought, idea, or sentiment, of 14 lines, usually in iambic pentameter, with rhymes arranged according to one of certain definite schemes, being in the strict or Italian form divided into a major group of 8 lines (the octave) followed by a minor group of 6 lines (the sestet), and in a common English form into 3 quatrains followed by a couplet. It's origin is from 1550–60; < It sonnetto < OPr sonet, equiv. to son poem (< L sonus sound 1 ) + -et -et. It's a verb (used without object) Archaic to compose sonnets, and it's also a verb (used with object) Older Use to celebrate in a sonnet or sonnets. It's other origin is from 1557 (in title of Surrey's poems), from Fr. sonnet (1543) or directly from It. sonetto, lit. "little song," from O.Prov. sonet "song," dim. of son "song, sound," from L. sonus "sound" (see sound (n.1)). Originally in Eng. also "any short lyric poem;" precise meaning is from It., where Petrarch (14c.) developed a scheme of an eight-line stanza (rhymed abba abba) followed by a six-line stanza (cdecde, the Italian sestet, or cdcdcd, the Sicilian sestet). Shakespeare developed the English Sonnet for his rhyme-poor native tongue: three Sicilian quatrains followed by a heroic couplet. It's other definition is a 14-line verse form usually having one of several conventional rhyme schemes. I got all of this information on dictionary.com under the word Sonnet. I guess i didn't feel like I understood it pretty well that's probably the reason on why i choose this word. I think the fact that William Shakespeare used a Sonnet and named it Sonnet 18 was awesome. I guess i really enjoyed his poem because I really liked it since it described his feelings towards a beautiful woman and a beautiful summer day. I found this word interesting since my friend told me she was reading Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare she said it was a beautiful poem. I think it's a great poem.
